Sunday evening IMPACT
5:45p - 7:15p ** Returning in the Fall Semester
August 31 - November 23, 2008
Are you hungering for more in the Christian life?
Are you ready for the next step?
Sunday night IMPACT is intentionally designed as time to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry.” (Eph. 4:12) You will find that this time on Sunday nights will challenge you to see ministry in everyday life situations and will equip you to be a spiritually growing and effective servant for Him. IMPACT is currently off for the summer, but will be returning to Sunday evenings on August 31st.
If you are curious what kind of studies we offer, you can look at the previous five classes that were being offered during the Spring semester. And it won't be long before we have the upcoming fall classes ready for public announcement.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(the following is the listing of the already finished Spring semester of IMPACT)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1 Men’s Study:
Be the Leader You Were Meant to Be
Do I have what it takes to be a leader?
What can I do to improve in my ability to lead?
What does the Bible teach about resolving difficulties?
These and many other questions are being addressed in this class on leadership taught by the pastors and elders of BRBC. If you are already in leadership, or are considering the possibility of serving in leadership, this class is for you. Principles covered range from pastoring to parenting . . . from inner life to outward habits . . . from establishing a good pattern to correcting a bad one . . . and so many other important issues along the way. The book we are using is written by LeRoy Eims, and is considered a modern classic in Christian leadership. Book available for purchase for $10.
#2 Ladies Study:
An Anchor for the Soul
This 7-week study is an excellent opportunity for you, ladies! Not only as a special encouragement to find your strength and stability from the character and promises of God, but also as an opportunity to dig into the "white pages" of Scripture! Not familiar with the "white pages" of Scripture? That's the section of the Bible where the pages are still nice and white because they have not gotten a lot of "action" (fingerprints etc.). In other words . . . the minor prophets! Books like: Jonah, Hosea, Amos, Micah, Habakkuk, Lamentations, and Zechariah. Karen Sims is the teacher and would be more than pleased if you would come and join the ladies as they continue to learn what it means to properly set their anchors . . . (No charge for the study materials)
#3 Finances Class:
Stewardship, Finances & Debt Reduction
Struggling to get all the bills paid?
Is giving to the Lord a source of inner strife?
Do you feel like your “money situation” needs some help?
A special class that we are offering in the Spring IMPACT has a focus to answer these questions, and more. Using a combination of video lessons, teaching sessions and in-class discussion, this class is designed to help you with your personal or family finances. Pastor Tom Stolberg is leading this class. Tom has experience as a financial investment advisor, and also has a practical, common-sense approach when it comes to biblical stewardship and financial planning. So . . . whether you are trying to dig your way out of a deep hole of debt, or wanting to become more consistent and biblical in your attitude toward money, this class is a great opportunity for you. (No purchase necessary !)
#4 Christian Worldview Training:
The Truth Project
What is the reality that you live by?
Does the Bible really teach a complete worldview?
“Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?”
This is the third time that The Truth Project is being offered at BRBC. Just ask those who have already taken the class . . . it is a study well worth attending! In this video series, Dr. Del Tackett, president of the Focus on the Family Institute, will challenge you to consider seriously the teaching of the Bible, and how it applies to all areas of life. Drawing from real-life interviews with “the man on the street,” plus expert interviews from people like Os Guiness, R.C. Sproul, and Ravi Zacharias, you will be challenged over and over to re-think your view of the world around you. Leading the class for this session is Jeff Hopper. If you haven’t seen it yet . . . don’t miss this opportunity!
#5 Counseling Class:
Introduction to Counseling
Is the teaching of the Bible adequate for the issues you face?
Do you know the difference between good and bad advice?
Do you desire to be a person who can give wise counsel?
This continuing course in Nouthetic Counseling is a deeper study for those returning from the fall IMPACT class, and yet easily accessible for the new-comer as well. What is Nouthetic Counseling? It is Biblically sound counseling that works by means of the Holy Spirit to bring about change in the life of the believer. Our instructor is Dr. Rick Thomas, founder and president of Mt. Carmel Ministries. So, whether you are seeking Biblical truth for your own daily life situations, or if you are interested in growing in your ability to give wise advice to others, this class is for you. Class materials provided.
